The iridescent scale here is a very makeshift AE project as well. I want the main characters tail to look otherworldly and magical-- after all, it's her art.
The scale looks like it's reacting to some sort of light, but it's really just a slider gradient that I applied. I'm going to be doing some more tests with specular prosperities in AE. I might reach out to Meghdad about it since he knows way more about the software than I do. This has also made me start think about how I'm going to represent AI in this film a little bit more. I don't want to use AI generators to make anything, but I also want the ai fish that they're making at the end to feel like it's unnatural- even with her tail attached to it.
I recently learned about V-Tubers and wonder if I can make a V-Tube model for the ai fish? This is completely out of my depth though so again, I might reach out to Meghdad and ask if he has any ideas on how to look into that.
